Giving Swansea's heritage a new future

An iconic part of Swansea's heritage, Mumbles Pier holds a special significance for thousands of visitors and residents.

Built in 1898, the pier is owned by the Amusement Equipment Company Ltd, a family firm who have maintained the Victorian structure over three generations. It was restored in 1956 but now requires almost total reconstruction.

The owners are to sell their foreshore land holdings for third-party development. The proceeds will finance an ambitious and innovative restoration project. Their plans coincide with proposals by the RNLI to site a new boathouse at the pier-head which is needed to launch their larger Tamar class lifeboat. Work is now in progress.

We have produced this website to keep you updated of how things are progressing. You can also look back at the many milestones involved in getting to this stage.
