An iconic part of Swansea's heritage, Mumbles Pier holds a special significance for thousands of visitors and residents.

Built in 1898, the pier is owned by the Amusement Equipment Company Ltd, a family firm who have maintained the Victorian structure over three generations. It was restored in 1956 but now requires almost total reconstruction.

The owners propose to develop the foreshore area and finance an ambitious restoration project.

These innovative plans link with the recent construction of a new RNLI boathouse sited at the pier-head.

Preparation work for the next phase is currently in hand with an announcement expected soon.
