An iconic part of Swansea's heritage, Mumbles Pier holds a special significance for thousands of visitors and residents.

Built in 1898, the pier is owned by the Amusement Equipment Company Ltd, a family firm who have maintained the Victorian structure over three generations. It was restored in 1956 but now requires almost total reconstruction.

Due to an inability to attract grant aid, the owners have opted to develop the foreshore area and recycle the proceeds into an ambitious and sustainable restoration project.

These innovative plans have also seen the recent construction of a new RNLI boathouse sited at the pier-head.

Preparation work for the next phase is currently in hand with an announcement expected soon.

We recommend taking some time to read about this major project.
